POST PANDEMIC WORKPLACE

Stress Related Ailments & Lifestyle Related Disease

Among much global health, economic and societal disruptions, the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has forced millions to physically isolate. Rarely has the threat of disease occupied so much of our thinking. Daily since 2020, almost every newspaper has stories about the coronavirus pandemic on its front page, radio and TV programs have back-to-back coverage on the latest death tolls, frightening statistics, and repetitive reminders on the pandemic virus preventive measures. This constant bombardment can result in heightened anxiety and stress disorders with immediate effects on our mental and physical health. The constant feeling of threat may have other, more insidious, effects on our psychology. On an individual level, it may differentially exacerbate anxiety and psychosis-like symptoms as well as lead to non-specific mental issues (eg, mood problems, sleep issues, phobia-like behaviours, panic-like symptoms). Our moral judgements become harsher and our social attitudes more conservative when considering issues such as immigration and equality. On a collective level it can lead to unproductive and unhealthy workforce.

Laugher Exercise

Laughter is the best medicine. One of the best feelings in the world is the deep-rooted belly laugh. It can bring people together and establish amazing connections. Everything from a slight giggle to a side-splitting guffaw can change the temperature of a room from chilly unfamiliarity to a warm family-like atmosphere.

Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier, or thinking they can't feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack
